Why are Cheetah's and Leopard's Similar?

They are both in the cat family for starters. They also both have the spots. Yet Cheetah's can be identified from the black markings they have around their eyes and their snout. Plus if you see them running, the cheetah will be faster, not to mention skinnier and have longer looking back legs.
