What were the events leading up to and after julius caesar's murder?

I'll give this a shot. Caesar, Pompey, and Lepidus had a triumvirate, but civil war broke out between Caesar and Pompey. Pompey was allied with the Senate and Caesar aligned himself with the people. After such and such a time the civil war came to an end with Caesar the victor. He tried to consolidate power by bringing the senate into the fold. However there were still Pompey supporters among the Senate. The Senate claimed Caesar was trying to destroy the republic, whereas Caesar claimed he was trying to save it by gaining the power of the Tyrannus (absolute ruler). This move was not unprecedented in Roman republican history. The Senate still wasn't having any of it, and they rallied around Brutus. Brutus and Caesar were friends, but Brutus believed he (with the help of the Senate) were really saving the republic. They killed Caesar. From Which we get "Et tu Brutus". Once Caesar was dead the Senate tried to reorganize along republican lines, but that didn't work. Caesar's nephew and adopted son Octavius (soon to be Caesar Augustus) picked up where Caesar left off. Civil war again. (I have negated Mark Antony due to time) Mark Antony and Octavius go to war. Octavius wins and becomes the first emperor of the Roman empire and is renamed Caesar Augustus. Hope that helps.
