I need some help with AIM!!!?

Okay so for some reason, my aim is not working properly. Everything works fine but when I try to IM someone, the chatbox is totally blank. You can see the textbox and emotions and the bar above it but you dont see any of the IMs that you and your friends are sending. Can anyone help me fix this? I've tried reinstalling it and it hasn't worked.
