Having problems signing in with my AIM?

I'm not exactly sure what happened. I am new at AOL/AIM and I decided that I didn't like my old name and decided to start up another account. I tried signing in and a message at the top reads "Settings error before Sign in". I am computer illiterate and I don't know what that means. I tried playing around with it, but nothing is happening. Restarted my computer/logged off and same problem. It happened to my husbands also.
